THOMAS WADE’S GUITAR METHOD

As a 30+ year studio musician, record producer, songwriter and performer, Thomas has had the inside track on playing the kind of guitar people are used to listening to on their car radio, or their personal listening devices, whatever the genre. And it is surprisingly different than the guitar taught in books and most classes.

The Thomas Wade method is a fuller sound, a more versatile method. For those just starting out, why learn the limitations built in to old traditional teaching? For those wanting to expand their abilities, beyond the campfire to the stage, and maybe even the recording studio, why not find out how to make your guitar sound like the music that made you want to play?

Whether your passion is acoustic folk. or pop in the style of such great artists as James Taylor or Gordon Lightfoot or more contemporary such as Ed Sheeran, Country, Blues or Rock, or even the Great American Songbook, Thomas Wade has played it, and probably recorded it.

Whether it’s acoustic or electric guitar you want to play, why not take advantage of 30+ years of creativity and experience, and all the tips and tricks that come with it, to get your guitar playing further, faster, with the Thomas Wade Guitar Method.

VOCAL AND PERFORMANCE COACHING

You are singing the same songs, in the same keys, but for some reason your voice is cracking, you feel as if the notes are being squeezed out, instead of flowing naturally. Each time you step in front of the mic it’s as if you’re stepping into a boxing ring, or into a pit of quick sand. There is nothing more terrifying to a singer than losing your voice. You feel lost, and wonder if you’ll ever find your way back. I have been there. I have been through all of it. And I know how to stay out of that quick sand and let your voice flow the way it was meant to.

Throughout the ’80s I was an in demand studio vocalist, jingle singer and live performer. Then in the ‘90s I hit at radio and on video with Thomas Wade and Wayward, a multiple award winning, juno nominated band with a string of hits, and a full, exhausting touring schedule. By ’97 I needed surgery for severe polyps. That in itself was terrifying.

Then in 2001 I completely lost my voice, by 2005 I could barely form words to speak, and in 2006 I was diagnosed with Oromandibular Dystonia, and incurable neurological disease. I was told I would never sing again, or speak normally. But after almost 10 years of feeling completely lost, I discovered hypnosis, and neuroplasticity. I regained my voice through a series of exercises I developed myself, and against all odds returned to the recording studio, and the stage. What I learned about the mind/body/spirit connection was invaluable. It was worth every excruciating moment.

The number one cause of all vocal problems is tension. The number one causal factor in most human ailments of any kind is stress. Stress can be hard to avoid. Especially if you are a singer in a high pressure situation. But stress and tension, are a matter of how we process life and each situation. The wind may seem to be working against us, but with a turn of the sail, it can carry us wherever we wish to go.

Singing is connected to a deep part of us. A creative part of us. To create we need freedom. Although sometimes the freedom comes from identifying the cage we are dealing with that we may never have known was there. It begins with how we are creating our reality with our thoughts. When we can begin creating the freedom we need to let go, we can be free to perform, and love it, at the highest most satisfying level we can achieve.
